ABOUT
The question, “What if …” is usually how the day begins.
Since “balance” is an elusive personal sentiment for Kelley, she learned long ago to “integrate” the people, projects and clients she believes bring worth into her life and professional practice.
PHILOSOPHY ON COLLABORATION
Public relations is not the type of profession one turns on and off. It’s a lifestyle of observation, connection and persistence. It is essential to be surrounded by people who inspire, question and even push–it’s how large scale change occurs. Kelley works best with those who dream big and are committed to seeing ideas realized.
KELLEY BURRUS
Cutting her teeth in the advertising industry, Kelley realized early on the headline just wasn’t enough. She craved the rest of the story.
Successful master-planned homebuilding initiatives and advocacy issues allowed a natural shift to consumer and advocacy public relations.
In 1993, with a golden key (ideal client), Kelley established an independent practice…and she’s never looked back.
Recently appointed to the city’s cultural planning communications committee, CreateAustin, Kelley is also an active board member of the Zachary Scott Theatre Center, a founding member of the Social Media Club, and serves in multiple advisory positions for nonprofits. She is a 2007 Addy Award winner for nonprofit communication.
She lives in Austin, Texas, with her urban husband who yearns for the great outdoors, their jazz trumpet-playing teenage son, and two very spoiled dogs who answer to “kitty” and “bunny.”
